************************************************************************* *** SWISSAIR MD-11, THE FULL PACKAGE *** VERSION 2.22 / November 2001 *** ************************************************************************* A JOINT VENTURE BETWEEN: Alain Capt / acapt@worldcom.ch / Switzerland URL: http://www.acsoft.ch ("Produits" chapter) Saul Loeb / saulloeb@earthlink.net / United States ---------------------------------------------------------------------- VERSION 2.21 TO VERSION 2.22 ---------------------------- - Added in package two missing gauges: ACS.CtrlSurfDisp-MD11.gau and ACS.StbyAtt-MD11.gau, the two gauges which are not built by me. VERSION 2.2 TO VERSION 2.21 --------------------------- - Aircaft 3D model (file .MDL) corrected to be compatible Windows 2000 and upper. - MDL correction allow me to use for FS2002 the correct 3D model for Swissair. I mean the version without visible turbine exhaust cone and small winglet on engine bonnet. - For purist, in FS2002 version, aircraft manufacturer name has been changed from "Mac Donnel Douglas" to "McDonnell Douglas". - Smaller archive size, thank to previous modifications (much less texture files). ENHANCEMENTS OF VERSION 2.2 IN REGARD OF BASIC VERSION 2.00 ----------------------------------------------------------- File "readme.txt" document the basic version 2.0. Here after you can found all enhancements which are now included in version 2.2 and not documented into "readme.txt". - Contain a new set of gauges with several optimisations in the code, especially for FS2000 + FS2002 versions, where some new specific FS200x variables are used instead of some complex code which was necessary without them, to build required missing variables. - PFD airspeed "band" display now will start to indicate air speed only over 30 knots and not anymore from zero. This is more real this way. - V1 marker on PFD airspeed "band" is not anymore allowed to be over the rotation speed Vr. When V1 computation result is higher than Vr, V1 will be set to same value as Vr. As a result, you will only see Vr marker on airspeed "band" and copilot will not announce V1. - Compatiblity with DME only navaids: When NAV1 is tuned on such a balise, small down-right rectangle on E-HSI gauge (CRT #2) will have the title "DME". Inside the rectangle, you will have, as usually, the "Ident" and the DME distance. When NAV2 is tuned on such a balise, you just get the DME distance in brown color, under NAV2 title. Obviously, for such a DME only balise, you will have nothing active on rose circle. For NAV1, you will have the red cross (no active VOR). For NAV2 the brown arrow will not appear. - Now will play a different music for each: boarding sequence, taxi to runway sequence and finally, taxi to gate after landing. You need obviously almost 3 different music files to get this result. But any configurations will work. If you have less, you will have repeated piece of music. If you have more, you may hear different sets of 3 contiguous music files, each time you load the MD11 panel. If you have just 3, you will hear always the same 3 files, but probably not in the same order each time. You can found 4 additional musics on my Internet site. - Reworked auto-landing feature: This version should be more smooth, with the nose going more up and touchdown less abrupt. On the other side, touchdown point may be a bit more far as before, but still inside the norm, speaking of version FS98 and FS2000 only. FS2000 & FS2002 users, ATTENTION !!! This new version is more sensible to "flight model" realism settings. You will only get a "kiss-landing" if all flight model cursors are set to "medium", like recommended into chapter "OPTIMUM FLIGHT SIMULATOR SETTINGS", in the readme.txt of original version 2.00. - On CRT #2, E-HSI gauge, auxiliary VOR indications (in brown color) will now also display the DME if present with the tuned balise. - Left Computer #1 now has two COM freqencies tunable. Active COM is always COM-1, but now you can prepare an other frequency on COM-2 and then, with the help of the last small orange button, down on the left, you can toggle frequencies between COM-1 and COM-2. - Pushback has been revised to obtain a much narrower radius turn and a precise final heading in any frame rate cases. This should improve compatibility with gates sceneries and allow to catch the yellow line. - For FS2000 and FS2002 versions, all views (direct one and all lateral views) are tuned to what I consider to be the optimum zoom factor. FS2000 AND FS2002 VIEWS TUNING ------------------------------ !!! ATTENTION !!! Proper usage of the version with views tuning require you do the following each time it is necessary: When you load the MD11 aircraft, you must check that the cockpit view is set to proper zoom factor (FS2000 = 0.55 FS2002 = 0.70). Optimum view effect is a precise combination of zoom factor with the vertical size of cockpit outside view. Therefore, check also that outside view is properly sized. Depending of the FS version and what you do previously with outside view setting, original defined size maybe not respected. MANY ADDITIONAL MUSIC AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD -------------------------------------------- If you are tired to always hear the same piece of music, visit my Internet site. You will found on MD11 page, many additional musics to add. It is nice to hear different music for each sequence of the flight !!!
